The heat is here!

I know nobody is suprised to hear about the heat in Phoenix, but it actually was very nice this year. Sunday was our very first day to hit over 100 degrees. It has been so nice to have it be so mild so long into May. The boys are loving getting wet, as usual. It's time to get shade over it soon before the sun makes it a giant hot tub!
A little hummingbird came to the front of our house and built a nest on one of the plants outside of our front door. She is such a sweet little bird and doesn't mind us coming over to see her and so we took a picture of her and her little nest. The poor thing was so hot yesterday that her wings were hanging over the edges of her nest and she was fluttering to try to keep herself cool, poor thing.
Jacob owned up to taking the pictures of the plants. He said, "Mom, the flowers were so pretty!" What? A 9 year old boy that appreciates the beauty of flowers???? The plants in the pots are sitting on our front wall. They are called succulent plants and are supposed to retain the water well and be good desert plants. This week will be the true test of if they'll survive the summer I suppose. They've had time to get used to the heat, so hopefully they'll make it.
A few days ago, the boys and I took lunch to Jim at work. He took us to a part of the hospital that was added on not too long ago to show us the great view of downtown Phoenix, and apparently they also use this area for storage. We just had to stop and take a picture of the boys in this cute chair that was in there.
At the end of April, we were invited to a spring party at my work. I clean a pediatric therapy clinic two evenings a week. The boys had a ball swimming and the owners let all of the kids play with the therapy equipment (yikes!) and they had so much fun.

Love all the updated pics. We got over a 100 2 days ago. Now it's nice for a few days and then I'm sure it will go back up. You know how hot it gets in Bakersfield. We've been enjoying swimming as well. Janna Peterson wants that very same airplane teeter toter. We saw it al Costco. Fun!

Happy late birthday!! I hope you had a fabulous day.

We too have had some heat. It was 103+ all last week. However, we are now enjoying a "cold" snap. The temps are in the 70s... we had showers today... it is absolutely beautiful. Don't be too jealous, though; it will be back to 100 within the next few weeks.

Happy birthday, again.
