A lot has been happening

THE PACK MEETING This past Wednesday was a Cub Scout pack meeting. It was an award ceremony for the boys who have earned things. Jacob earned his Webelos badge and more impressive, his Arrow of Light! He and a friend both earned it. We are so proud of the young man he is becoming. Above is the cake the leaders had made. He was so excited. I got to paint his face while a poem was read. They have the mothers come up and receive a mother's pin each time they advance.

Kevin was a little antsy by the time they got around to the Arrow of Light ceremony. So he and dad played with the camera a little bit.

When we got home, we laid out the awards for a picture. He got a lot again!

I made a ribbon that I wear to the pack meetings with all of my mother's pins on it. The top five are from Jacob. First is the Bobcat, then the Wolf, the Bear, the Webelos and then the Arrow of Light. The one at the bottom is Brian's first pin, the Bobcat. I think I have a lot more pins coming. I'm going to need a longer ribbon!

THE PYRAMID Jacob had a 6th grade project he's been working so hard on, I had to show you. The pictures don't do it justice for the detail and hard work he (and dad) put into it . He had to build a pyramid model with secret passageways, hallways, rooms, traps, the king's tomb...... the works. It had three different levels with four sections.

He brought it home from school today with a smile and a 100%!

JACOB'S BIRTHDAY We had two families over on his birthday. A few days prior to the day, Jim and I brought home a bail of hay and put it in the backyard. He was a little curious why we got a bail of hay. Jim told him it was his birthday present. He was confused. We liked it that way. How mean, huh! For his presents, he got some cards in the mail from Grandpa & Grandma James and Nonno & Nonni, some with money. This is the first present he opened. Brian got him a little personal fan.....as a prize from the dentist office......and he wasn't shy about announcing that to the crowd. It was pretty funny. Jacob likes it.

He got a Guinness Book from Grandma & Grandpa Miller.

He got some targets from the Henderson's. Targets? A bail of hay? Hmmmmm......

Then from Dad and Mom, he got a bow and arrows. Now it all makes sense. He has been talking about shooting a bow and arrow for quite some time. He even makes them out of tinker toys. He shoots it every day and loves it. He's getting pretty good at it too!

THE FAIR We got to go to the fair with dad. We donated socks to get in for free. Have I mentioned before how much I love free things? The boys got some free rides and it was dollar day for rides too, so we bought a few extra tickets. We all went on a gigantic ferris wheel together. Kevin and dad went into a mirror house.

Jacob and Brian really wanted to go on this log water ride. Jim went with them. Oh my....

*DRENCHED*

We went into the animal area to have a look around. There was a cute little Wallaby just sitting. Look at the baby head sticking out of her pouch. It really was cute.

Jacob, Brian and dad went on this really big flying ride. They had a lot of fun.

Kevin drove some little bumper cars.

In the children's building, they had some little tractors the kids could ride on and some bails of hay with bull heads on them. The kids could try to lasso the bull.

Funny little story about the hay. After we brought it home and Jim told Jacob the hay was for his birthday, Jacob asked what it was going to be. Jim asked him what he thought. All he could think of it being was this bull like he had played with at the fair. He said he thought he was getting a lasso and a bull head. Funny boy!
